Position Overview
The Burlington School District is seeking passionate and dedicated educators and student support professionals to join our schools for the 2026–2027 school year.
We are currently accepting applications for multiple licensed positions across the district, including:
Elementary Teachers
Special Education Teachers
School Counselors
Art Instructors
Academic Interventionists
Successful candidates will support BSD’s commitment to high levels of achievement for all students by creating inclusive, engaging, and culturally responsive learning environments. These positions work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and the broader school community to ensure students grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Instructional & Professional Responsibilities
(include but not limited to)
Plan, prepare, and implement engaging lessons and learning experiences aligned with district and state standards.
Create a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment that supports diverse learners.
Assess and monitor student progress and adjust instruction or supports accordingly.
Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, and student support teams to meet the needs of all students.
Participate in EST (Education Support Team) processes and multidisciplinary collaboration where applicable.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and required documentation.
Participate in professional development, in-service days, and staff meetings.
Implement district instructional goals and educational philosophy.
Maintain strong relationships with students, families, and community members.
Comply with Board and administrative policies, regulations, and procedures.
Report incidents and respond to emergency situations in accordance with district policies and state law.
Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.
Qualifications
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Fine Arts, or a related field required.
Vermont Educator License (or eligibility for licensure) in the appropriate endorsement area.
Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Attributes
Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse student populations.
Training or experience supporting English Language Learners (ELL).
Experience with collaborative teaching, inclusive practices, or interdisciplinary teams.
Demonstrated commitment to student-centered learning and differentiated instruction.
Evidence of implementing inclusive practices for students with special needs.
Ongoing professional learning related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Employment Benefits & Terms
- SALARY: As per the Master Agreement between the Burlington Board of School Commissioners and the Burlington Education Association. This is a salaried position paid Bi-Weekly with a lump sum payment for the summer period.
- SCHOOL YEAR: 10 months, 187 workdays (based on start date), 7.75 per day/38.75 per week
- BENEFITS: Benefits eligible on start date. 30 days to enroll in coverage from start day. BSD Benefits!
- PAID TIME: Sick Time / Personal Time As per the Master Agreement.
