About the Job

The Fundraising Director will lead the work to maintain and grow funding for 350VT’s statewide grassroots climate justice work, collaborating with 350VT’s staff, board, volunteer base, and partners. 350VT operates as a staff collective, where all staff members work together to lead the organization.

Fundraising will make up the majority of this role. Some key aspects of the role are:

  • Leading fundraising strategy and planning, in collaboration with staff and board
  • Managing 350VT’s grassroots fundraising, grant applications, and relationships with donors, foundations, and sponsors, in collaboration with other staff, board, and volunteers, to help as appropriate
  • Seeking out new relationships with potential funders to expand our reach
  • Collaborating on 350VT’s organizing in ways that support fundraising, especially through relationship-building, such as attending some meetings of our local organizing groups, network council, or helping to plan mobilizations
  • Orchestrating our bi-annual fundraising appeals via physical mail and e-mail marketing
  • Supporting our board of directors in contributing to fundraising efforts

Depending on skills and interest, helping with communications or managing comms strategy could also be part of the role.

As a 350VT staff collective member, the Fundraising Director will participate in discussions, meetings, and retreats to contribute to 350VT’s overall health and vision:

  • Strategy, planning, organizational development retreats, and other activities
  • Regular meetings and collaboration with the whole staff and with board/volunteer teams
  • Joining and helping with occasional key events throughout the year
  • Working with the rest of the small staff team to make sure that all organizational needs are met as they emerge
  • Contributing to facilitating 350VT’s organizational development work

Employer's Approach to Diversity, Equity, & Belonging

350VT is committed to creating and inclusive and diverse climate justice movement. We respect and act in solidarity with those who have been historically excluded from power, both locally and globally, and work for solutions that hold the powerful accountable and that address energy consumption and impacts globally. The climate crisis impacts all of us, but it disproportionately impacts those who have been excluded from decision-making tables, particularly BIPOC, frontline, and poorer communities. We work to address how privilege and oppression show up in our organization as well as in the wider world. We believe that learning from and working with partners from the communities most impacted by the climate crisis, and making the connections between the climate crisis and interconnected injustices explicit, is essential for transforming what is politically possible.
