Organization Description
The Vermont Board of Medical Practice licenses and regulates the practice of medicine in Vermont by physicians (MDs), physician assistants (PAs), podiatrists (DPMs), and other professions. The Board includes 9 MDs, a PA, a podiatrist, and six public members. The current opening is for a public member. Members attend two meetings per month. The majority of work for members consists of oversight of investigations of possible unprofessional conduct by licensees and deciding the resolution of cases.Organization's Approach to Diversity, Equity, Belonging, & Inclusion
The Board has engaged in training on implicit bias and has formed a committee to lead its work on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The Board aspires to make DEI a consideration in all Board activities, interacting with applicants, licensees, complainants, and other parties such as witnesses.
Board Terms and Term Limits
Board terms are for five years and a member may be appointed to two full terms. If a member is appointed to complete the term of a member who leaves the Board prior to completing a five-year term, the appoint will be for the unexpired term rather than for five years.Frequency & Duration of Board Meetings
Two meetings each month; each is approximately three hours long.Stipends for Board Membership
