David Tabaruka

David Tabaruka was born and raised in Rwanda until the age of 15. He was forced to flee his home country due to the civil war and moved around Central Africa until 2004 when he and his family immigrated to Vermont through the refugee resettlement program.

An accountant by training, David started his career in advertising where he got his first exposure to international business/finance. He then switched industry to enhance his skills in manufacturing operational finance and project management by joining a leading company in rail business. Driven by passion for learning, he recently moved to a position in Higher Education to support the vision and mission of the Community College of Vermont by leading its Business Office.

Additionally, he is a member of the Rotary Club of Burlington, and a new board member of the Vermont Futures Project.

Off work, he enjoys spending time with his family. His three boys and wife are the highlight of his life! They give him meaning and purpose to wake up energized every day. Whenever the time permits, he loves to play football (soccer), go mountain biking, and snowboarding.
