About the Job

Vermont Organic Farmers, part of NOFA VT announces contract openings for organic inspectors to audit dairy and maple operations as well as organic processing facilities. The job of the organic inspector is to evaluate information provided by the certified operation and the certification agency, inspect the premise, assess all information and observations, and communicate findings to VOF. Inspectors are hired as independent consultants and thus are not eligible for employee benefits. VOF is seeking highly qualified professional auditors possessing experience in dairy, maple and food processing.

Ideal candidates possess a B.A./B.S. degree or higher in agriculture, food technology, or related field or equivalent work experience. A general requirement is the completion or future completion of relevant courses offered by the International Organic Inspectors Association (www.ioia.net). The expectation is that organic inspectors will continue to improve their inspection skills through ongoing professional development and will stay abreast of changes and trends in organic production and the organic regulations.

Contract rate based on experience.
