Salary: Starts at $50,000-55,000, commensurate with experience
Locations: Remote plus regular in-person business in Burlington, Vermont

VBSR’s Education and Events Manager will provide leadership and implementation for VBSR’s educational and events programming, including strategy, planning, coordination, development, fundraising, logistics, and facilitation.

Responsibilities:

Lead Educational Programming

• Coordinate all logistics, including venue or Zoom.

• Liaison with presenters, including support with content, format design, and logistics.

• Coordinate registration and communicate participation details with registrants.

• Respond to requests for support and information on VBSR educational programming.

• Host and manage Zoom during virtual VBSR workshops, trainings and learning cohorts.

• Represent VBSR during workshops, trainings and learning cohorts, including welcoming attendees, sponsor thank yous, introductions, housekeeping, and light facilitation.

• Identify fundraising opportunities to support educational programming, including grants, and support Executive Director with applying for and managing grants.

• Collaborate with VBSR Communications Manager on promoting VBSR programming.

Lead Event Management

• Plan, coordinate, and manage all signature VBSR events, including Annual Conference, Awards Ceremony, and Networking Get-Togethers (5-10 per year):

o Coordinate all logistics, including venue or Zoom.

o Liaison with presenters, including support with content, format design, and logistics.

o Coordinate registration and communicate participation details with registrants.

o Respond to requests for support and information on VBSR events.

o Host and manage Zoom during virtual VBSR events.

• Assist VBSR Public Policy Manager with policy-related events, including Legislative Breakfast, member lobby days, and community forums.

• Assist VBSR Membership Manager with member-related events.

Contribute to Strategic Leadership

The Education & Events Manager will work with VBSR board, staff, and committees to:

• Position VBSR as a leader in education and training for the socially responsible business community, including developing and implementing a long-term vision and goals for our educational programming and events.

• Identify leading-edge themes, topics, and models for VBSR’s programming, as well as prospective presenters – both within VBSR’s membership and beyond.

• Develop new programming models and content areas in line with VBSR’s unique brand, including market research, presenter research, budgeting, and internal input.

• Develop programming calendar based upon input from membership and participants.

• Develop goals and budget for all signature VBSR events and educational programming.

• Evaluate all signature VBSR events and educational programming for quality, accessibility, value, diversity of offerings, demand, and value proposition.

• Serve as staff liaison to VBSR Programming Committee.

Ambassadorship & Teamwork

• Serve as an ambassador for VBSR, positively representing VBSR’s brand and values.

• Be a positive contributor to VBSR Staff Team and team-wide efforts, including membership growth, public relations, fundraising, mission alignment, and organizational development.


Required Qualifications:

• Strategic thinker

• Excellent planning and coordination skills, including attention to detail and organization
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to create and manage budgets and analyze data to produce reports
• Adept at Microsoft Excel and Word
• 2-5 years experience in program or project management
• 2-5 years experience planning large and complex events
• Demonstrated interest in education and professional development
• Commitment to VBSR’s mission
• Personal transportation and valid driver’s license

Also Desirable:
• Experience hosting virtual events
• Strong facilitation skills
• Experience with educational program development
• Experience with grant writing and grant management
• Familiarity with the business community

Physical Requirements:
• VBSR does not keep a physical office. Duties will primarily be performed remotely and in the future, regularly (i.e. 2x/week) at in-person locations throughout Vermont. VBSR provides reimbursement for travel expenses other than trips to Burlington.
• VBSR provides standard office equipment (including a computer, and, if needed, printer) and supplies as well as reimbursement for remote work expenses (phone and internet).
• Evening work may occasionally be required in order to attend events.
• This position requires sitting at a desk and working with a computer for long periods of time, as well as in-person interactions (with precautions / when safe to do so).
• Ability to lift 25 lbs
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination
