Job Description
TITLE: In-School Education Director
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
EMPLOYMENT: Full time September-May, part-time June-August; 80% FTE annual salary; position is grant-funded for the first 2 years.

BASIC FUNCTION:
The In-School Education Director oversees all educational programming for the museum that occurs in schools. The In-School Education Director works closely with the Executive Director, the collections team and the On-Site Educator to create and implement curriculum based on the mission of the Old Stone House Museum & Historic Village. The In-School Education Director will oversee temporary, part time staff, interns or Americorps members to deliver programs in schools. The position is responsible for professional development workshops for area educators.
The position will function full-time Monday-Friday from September through May to match the school calendar and enable close work with school partners. Focus curricular areas may include
- 19th century history of Northern Vermont and Orleans County
- indigenous history of Northern Vermont and Orleans County
- natural history and future of Northern Vermont and Orleans County
- STEM and STEAM-related history of Northern Vermont and Orleans County
- African American and diversity history of Northern Vermont and Orleans County
- diversity, race and inclusion based on the life and legacies of A Twilight, GW Henderson and other individuals of underrepresented backgrounds in Orleans County history
Part-time from June through August. Works closely with museum staff on planning, grant writing, curriculum development, building relationships with school partners and educational outreach.
