The Division of Policy, Planning and Intermodal Development within the Agency of Transportation is seeking a highly motivated professional to join the newly created Environmental Policy and Sustainability team. This position presents a unique and exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about tackling climate change through tangible projects in the transportation sector.
Over the next several years, the Sustainability Projects Coordinator will support the Agency in the areas of climate and energy as the State works to meet the targets of the Global Warming Solutions Act, the related state Climate Action and Comprehensive Energy Plans, and implement federal formula funds and competitive grants through the federal Carbon Reduction, National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure, and resilience-related programs.
The incumbent will serve in a key role coordinating complex procurement, project tracking and reporting processes for critical vehicle electrification and sustainability projects contributing to progress towards the State’s climate goals and requirements. The Agency is interested in hearing from organized, detail-oriented candidates with grant and project management experience and clear communication and creative problem-solving skills. The work of this position involves high-profile projects and programs that require both a facility with data collection, analysis, reporting and dashboarding, as well as the development of strong interpersonal relationships and an understanding of the broader contexts in which this work takes place.
Successful candidates could draw from an array of educational and employment experiences but should demonstrate a strong background and interest in environmental and transportation projects, and the ability to collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders and partners while also working independently to meet project-specific deadlines and requirements.
Although this position will report to the Agency of Transportation’s headquarters in Barre, VT, remote and flexible work schedules are possible. Nestled in the Green Mountains and located approximately 45 minutes from Vermont’s largest city, Burlington, Central Vermont is a great place to live and work with excellent schools, plenty of cultural activities and amazing summer and winter recreation opportunities.
