POSITION TITLE: Staff Accountant
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full Time, Exempt

REPORTS TO: Controller
SALARY RANGE: $50,000 – $60,000
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The primary responsibility of the Staff Accountant is to provide support to the accounting team and manage campaign and donor information gathered from fundraising and funds distribution. Support for the accounting team includes processing various monthly recurring journal entries, creating, maintaining, and updating multiple worksheets, detail schedules, and trial balances in support of monthly, quarterly, and annual closes.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Finance
- Prepares, or assists with preparing, several month-end recurring and non-recurring journal entries, including preparing supporting schedules
- Reconciles bank account statements, including the main operating account, to the general ledger
- Reconciles several GL balance sheet accounts monthly and maintains documentation for annual audit
- Assist Directors and Senior Leadership Team members with monthly review of their respective general ledgers and needed reclasses
- Create and assist in the distribution of department and program level financial statements
- Prepares various month-end and year-end activities, including preparation of 1099 forms
- Create, maintain, and update various worksheets and detail schedules
- Prepare cash flow analysis and management dashboards as needed
- Prepare financial statements for Fiscal Sponsored Programs
Campaign Pledge & Gift Processing
- Enter all donor pledge/gift detail from pledge forms and upload data received from the Donor Relations team into the CRM database
- Ensure gift processing is timely and data entry is accurate, including payment schedules, designations, and verification of donor information and any necessary updates
- Work collaboratively with Donor Relations regarding pledges and gifts
- Process all noncash gifts, including stock gifts
- Create accurate donor and agency profiles in the CRM database and accounting system for new donors and designated agencies
Database Support
- Support the improvement and effectiveness of the database tools and services
- Support the daily operations of the database to include data mining, report generation, analysis, and process improvement
- Support the maintenance of documentation and data standards and UWNWVT business processes
- Assist in identifying and developing tools, frameworks, and processes for using data to inform decisions
- Maintain current knowledge of industry standards and best practices in organizing and storing data
Experience
- 2-4 years of experience in accounting is required, and relevant education will be considered in lieu of experience. Completion of 2–4-year degree in finance or accounting preferred
- Use of accounting software required; knowledge of Abila MIP Accounting Software preferred
- Proven experience working with relational databases
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including intermediate to advanced excel skills
