VSAC is seeking a talented Outreach Counselor in our Talent Search program in northeast Vermont (Caledonia & Washington Counties) to provide career and college readiness services to students at middle and high schools. The person in this role will be able to create a curriculum plan for career and college planning services, meet with students individually and in groups, develop rapport with students, staff, faculty, and agency & college personnel, and facilitate workshops and presentations to students, parents, & professionals.

The successful candidate will be flexible, organized, inquisitive, able to work independently, and skilled in relationship-building. They will have experience working with youth in educational settings, an understanding of socioeconomic & academic needs of first-generation families, excellent written & verbal communication, familiarity with public school systems, and knowledge of adolescent development, career development, & post-secondary options, and financial aid. A master’s degree in education or a related field is preferred.

Applicants must have a valid driver’s license verified by a Motor Vehicle Record Report, a willingness to travel up to 1,000 miles a month, and a properly inspected, registered, and insured motor vehicle for business use. They must provide their own workspace when working away from VSAC offices. This role is a full-time position requiring a background check with the desired start date of September 1.
