The Manager, IT Enterprise Systems, will manage a team of technical individuals, lead multiple projects and be a liaison between both technical and functional business areas throughout the organization. The areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, corporate data and database management, application development and support, and management of geospatial systems development, support, and service.

The Manager, IT Enterprise Systems, will provide leadership in building enterprise system integration to eliminate disparate application silos and establish enterprise systems, which supports the sharing of information, and the coordination of business resources, adheres to corporate security and compliance, and provides a user environment that encourages collaboration and teamwork.

How you will make an impact

Functional Management

Provides senior-level support to the Director, Information Technology, by overseeing the enterprise systems portfolio and leading the delivery, support, and advancement of technology, process improvement, and user experience.

Sets the strategic vision for enterprise systems based on key business goals to create an integrated roadmap that aligns efforts and drives focus on VELCO initiatives and strategic goals.

Collaborates with the business leaders to enable proactive prioritization of enterprise-wide activities and strategies that harness technology to transform care and performance.

Cultivates a culture of high-performing teams who collaborate with the business to inform, enable, and transform the delivery of work through highly effective relationship management.

Translates strategy into an executable tactical plan.

Manages the Applications and Systems Development area that includes responsibility for all VELCO’s major, enterprise-level systems and oversees related IT application project management.

Manages data technology systems to support database administration, data integration (FME), governance, profiling, cataloging, warehousing, etc.

Oversees the enterprise systems requirements, design, documentation, analysis, and planning, and the management and sustainment of the enterprise systems, throughout the development, deployment, operation, and improvement of the full life of the enterprise system.

Identifies projects and priorities related to enterprise systems and works with vendors on project costs related to upgrades and operations.

Provides input and guidance on enterprise systems related budgeting, strategic, and tactical planning, business process re-engineering, and database system strategy.

Staff Management

Provide guidance/oversight to direct reports and to supporting consultants.

Coach, mentor and provide effective feedback to develop and retain employees while seeking growth opportunities for high performers to develop into future leaders.

Build, manage and measure relationships with vendors/partners and technology providers.

Lead multiple projects technically and functionally.

Encourage and promote a culture of continual improvement of solutions after implementation.

Effectively present and evangelize solutions with non-technical leaders and stakeholders.

Lead the implementation of new organizational processes to insure alignment with existing defined enterprise systems.

Provide leadership throughout implementation of all IT application development and all VELCO purchased software applications to promote and insure the necessary compatibility between existing legacy systems and newly purchased systems.

Who you are

A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field is required.

Experience:

Minimum 7 years of demonstrated, relevant experience as an IT Manager.

Experience in program management including decision-making, procurement, personnel management and budgeting is expected.

Senior IT level experience managing, leading, and mentoring teams to provide business value through application of advanced technologies.

Experience supporting electric utility operations and management highly desirable but not required.

High-level qualification in team leadership and supervision of multiple direct reports and consultants.

Excellent skills with Microsoft suite.

Strong leadership, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills in addition to personnel management.

Strong customer focus with the ability to maintain a high level of trust and confidence it the technology services provided to internal and external customers.

Working knowledge of Cybersecurity industry standards, program measurements, emerging trends and solutions.

Project management skills including team leadership, project planning, maintaining budgets and vendor relationships, and evaluating new technologies.

SCADA and AVEVA PI System engineering knowledge and/or experience in management of operational data.

Leadership in applying software analysis, design, development and integration for software applications.

Provide visionary leadership in new technologies to advance ability to support internal and external customers.

Working knowledge of Cybersecurity industry standards, program measurements, emerging trends and solutions.

Working knowledge of compliance programs and managing a regulatory environment. Familiarity with creating and managing work plans supporting regulatory obligations including controls and audit activity.

Strong analytical and critical thinking as well as creative problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated technical skills, strong analytical and critical thinking as well as creative problem-solving skills with high attention to detail are required.

Experience in performing event reviews, including Root Cause Assessments (RCAs).

Important considerations

Must be able to perform typical administrative functions which may involve long periods of keyboarding and periodically of scanning, filing, copying, etc.

Must be able to maintain fast pace while completing complex work, in potentially emotionally- fraught situations, with competing priorities, within tight timelines and with frequent interruptions.

Must be able to work additional hours when necessary.

Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.

VELCO’s headquarters are located in Rutland, Vermont. This is a hybrid position and the expectation is that the incumbent will spend at least two days per week onsite and more as needed.
