The LoveYourBrain Foundation is a US-based nonprofit that improves the quality of life of people affected by traumatic brain injury (TBI) through programs that build community and foster resilience. We believe that yoga, mindfulness, and community are essential to transforming the wellbeing of people impacted by TBI. That’s why we pioneered our programs – offered across the United States and Canada – to empower our community with new tools, resources, and connections.
LoveYourBrain is seeking a dynamic individual who:
is a strong and engaging storyteller
understands the intricacies of marketing and communications
takes a data-informed approach
can share the story of LoveYourBrain in an inspiring, passionate, human-centered way
The Communications and Social Media Manager is responsible for growing awareness about our mission and engaging external stakeholders to participate in our community. LoveYourBrain believes that TBI, caregiving, and the intersections where we work – namely within healthcare and yoga and wellness spaces – disproportionality impact the most marginalized in our society, including BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, women, non-binary people, people living with disabilities, people with intersecting identities, and others with lived experience being part of marginalized communities. We believe these communities must be centered in the work we do. Therefore we strongly encourage applications from people with these identities or who are members of other marginalized communities. If you share LoveYourBrain’s values of being real, compassionate, inclusive, fun, and curious, we’d love to speak with you. The LYB community believes in respect for all people and the planet. We believe it’s essential to commit to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Belonging (DEIAB) in our work and in our own bodies, minds, and hearts. In doing so, we strive to be in the practice of listening to understand, learning and unlearning, examining the role our power and privilege plays in our work and lives, trust and relationship building, calling each other in when harm is caused, and growing from the mistakes we have already and will continue to make.
Every year, we now establish commitments to galvanize and hold us accountable. Currently, we are working to advance DEIAB primarily through a racial justice lens given the disproportionate impacts of TBI on BIPOC communities. We are also aware of the intersectionality of oppression and commit to simultaneously increasing DEIAB based on aspects of identity including but not limited to disability, gender identity, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and other historically excluded identities.
All full-time staff members have an opportunity to join LoveYourBrain's Equity Team, whose purpose is to move LoveYourBrain toward a more equitable, anti-racist organization to fully realize our mission and vision. The Equity Team proactively explores, integrates, and enhances defining, integrating, and applying Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Belonging within LoveYourBrain.
