About the Job

The Logistics Coordinator is the go-to person for organizing and coordinating the use of our equipment and supplies, making sure “the behind-the scenes” of the organization is working smoothly. The coordinator spearheads the logistical support for our Bike Smart program, which involves scheduling and communicating the movement of trailers filled with bikes around the state. The coordinator works with our program staff to purchase, store, and distribute supplies and equipment in an efficient and organized manner, keeping track of inventory and location. This position is hands-on and requires being at our office location a large part of the time, with work shifting from season to season. The coordinator will gain a thorough understanding of how an organization with multi-faceted programs works and will have the opportunity to expand the role based on interests.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Working as the liaison between our drivers and our customers (schools), schedule and coordinate the delivery of our Bike Smart trailers across Vermont during the spring, summer, and fall seasons
  • Coordinate the scheduling and deployment of adaptive bikes based on customer/partner requests
  • Work with our Fleet Service Coordinator to assure bike maintenance is scheduled and performed on a timely basis
  • Order, stock, and replenish supplies for the Bike Smart program, Safe Routes to School program, and other educational and outreach programs
  • Oversee and proactively plan for the maintenance of our vehicles and trailers to assure they are in good working order at all times
  • In collaboration with administrative staff, oversee the use of, and maintain, on-site and off-site storage to keep our facilities organized
  • Coordinate staff’s use of shared equipment, such as vans, tabling & outreach equipment, and maintain a “grab and go” supply of regularly used materials for office and program staff
  • Assess, plan, and implement the routine maintenance needs of our bicycle rest areas in Grand Isle and Chittenden Counties
  • Assist with logistical needs for events, implementing the “what, where, and when” with the option to run some events
  • Collaborate with other staff to maximize efficiencies between our various programs
  • Carry out other support tasks as needed, including filling in for a driver if needed

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills
  • Strong and concise communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, with commitment to “crossing t’s and dotting i’s”
  • Computer skills, including familiarity with Google Suite (especially Google Calendar) and Microsoft Office
  • Proactive mentality with a “make things happen” attitude
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and be a self‐starter
  • Ability to work as a collaborative team member
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and move bicycles
  • Experience driving 15-passenger vans or similar large vehicles, including towing a trailer
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Basic bike mechanic skills and knowledge of bikes a plus

This is a year-round, non-exempt hourly position, with an average of 30 hours per week. Some weekend work may be required, March-November. Wage range is $22-$24 per hour commensurate with experience.
