About the Job

King Street Center (KSC) is seeking a full-time 40 hour/week K-5 Assistant Director to assist our K-5 Director in planning, directing and evaluating afterschool & summer activities for elementary school-aged children in the Burlington community. This position will join our dedicated staff and assist in the coordination of academic, recreation, enrichment, and field trip opportunities for youth kindergarten through 5th grade. This position will also support the supervision of staff and directly support in program, as needed.

Core responsibilities and skills include:

  • Develop, implement, participate in, and supervise daily educational and age-appropriate activities for children in compliance with the guidelines and standards set by the state licensing board. 
  • Support enrollment and orientation of children and families into the programs.
  • Attend to health and safety matters, including reporting and record keeping.
  • Attend and/or facilitate regular prep and wrap-up meetings and training sessions.
  • Maintain communication with teachers and schools, connect mentors and book buddies to implement academic support.
  • Support the compliance with Child Care Licensing Guidance and STARS Certification
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Effectively oversee and train employees, interns, and volunteers.

Qualifications & Experience:

At least three years of experience working with elementary school-aged children. One year of program management experience is preferred.  Experience working with BIPOC youth and families is also preferred.
