Southern Vermont Area Health Education Center has been awarded a major grant from the Vermont Department of Health, in conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) nationwide initiative to advance health equity in Vermont by addressing COVID-19 related and other persistent health disparities. The 18-month grant will support the building of a statewide Community Health Worker network and infrastructure to meet the needs of the communities most disproportionately impacted by adverse health outcomes.
This major health workforce initiative is designed to include and raise the collective voice of community health workers as valued and essential members of the public and community health workforce and grow this workforce to improve the health and well-being of the most underserved and vulnerable Vermonters.
