The Vermont Department of Health is currently seeking multiple candidates for the positions of Heath Equity & Community Engagement Coordinator.
The Heath Equity & Community Engagement Coordinators are the liaison to Vermont’s populations of focus. This includes, but is not exclusive to, people who are Black, Indigenous, Persons of Color, individuals who are LGBTQIA+, people experiencing homelessness, multilingual communities, farm workers, and individuals with disabilities. These positions will be responsible for building and sustaining trusted relationships with Vermont’s communities, ensuring community voices are elevated across the department, and identifying internal and external system-level enhancements to more equitably serve Vermont’s communities.
At the Vermont Department of Health, our mission is to protect and promote the health of people living in Vermont and central to this mission is ensuring our workforce reflects our value of fostering diversity, equity and inclusion. To better achieve this goal, we are actively working on our internal systems - including hiring and recruitment practices, workforce development trainings, granting processes, and other areas – to integrate principles of health equity and addressing systemic oppression at various levels. This position is among several newly created positions that will help work towards these goals.
