About the Job

Vermont Humanities is searching for a talented and experienced digital storyteller to engage with our growing audiences through web content, social media posts, print and email campaigns, podcasts and video productions. This full-time position will deliver content to Vermont’s cultural landscape and be a voice for our organization. The Communications Officer at Vermont Humanities works both independently and as part of a team to create and edit content for the organization’s website, print publications, social media channels, email communications, podcast episodes, video productions, and press releases. The Officer also maintains and enhances the Vermont Humanities website and oversees our vibrant social media presence. The Officer may be called upon to collaborate with the Director of Development and Communications or other staff members with programming and development activities.

Key Skills
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills, with a strong commitment to ensuring the accuracy of all materials created for the organization.
• Experience creating email campaigns using MailChimp, Campaign Monitor, Constant Contact, or another modern email platform.
• Website editing and publishing experience, ideally using WordPress
• Demonstrated facility with using social media channels for nonprofit communications
• Experience with sound and video recording
• Experience with audiovisual editing tools such as Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition, Hindenburg, or Reaper
• Experience with project management software such as MS Project, MS Planner, or Trello
• Experience with CRMs and other data management software
• Experience with or interest in photography
• Demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Exchange, Word, Excel, Sharepoint) as well as other modern office software and equipment, including website browsing and publishing tools, and copiers and printers
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent life experience required
• Demonstrated interest in and commitment to the humanities
• Ability to serve as an effective public voice for the mission, vision, and programs of Vermont Humanities.
• Ability to proactively contribute to the anti-racism, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility initiatives of the organization
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a team in a collaborative environment
• Ability to prioritize and undertake the multiple, diverse activities of different programs by developing and adhering to detailed workflow timelines
• Ability to respond to routine and special assignments in a fast-paced environment with flexibility and a willingness to meet project goals and organizational needs
