Overview
The Engineering Manager leads with a focus on strategic impact, technical vision, customer value, and staff centered practices. This role identifies, leads, and drives core management efforts to create beneficial change across staff and work strategy including leadership role to develop and evolve our business in critical places like energy efficiency, decarbonization. This position will also manage, supervise, coordinate, and lead the activities and staff necessary to optimize the delivery of Efficiency Vermont services to succeed in our impact with rate payers and partners (residential, multifamily, commercial, industrial, and institutional).

Responsibilities
- Manages and directs Engineering staff in the development and delivery of high-quality technical services to EEU staff and customers.
- Provides supervision of Engineering staff via activities including:
- providing real-time constructive feedback on an ongoing basis;
- developing and communicating clear guidelines and expectations;
- assessing individual training needs and coordinating training accordingly;
- guiding and supporting employees as they establish individual performance and professional development goals to maximize the performance, efficiency and work quality of each individual in support of the team;
- providing appropriate support and action in managing performance problems;
- overseeing staff recruitment and orientation
- mentoring staff and holding staff accountable to meeting goals.
- Coordinates with the Efficiency Vermont Management Team to establish and hold staff accountable to achieving team goals that are aligned with VEIC and Efficiency Vermont goals.
- Collaborates and coordinates with the Efficiency Vermont Management Team and other VEIC groups and divisions on cross-functional initiatives, with understanding and flexibility to build organizational unity, efficiency and success.
- Develops models for efficient workflows and provides guidance and training to engineering staff to enable execution. Plans, implements, and oversees optimized allocation of engineering to maximize effectiveness in alignment with Efficiency Vermont and VEIC goals.
- Leads and coordinates staff and subcontractors in the design, development and implementation of customer-focused strategies, initiatives, and activities to support work plans.
- Identifies and keeps current with industry trends and best practices and develops methods for communicating to staff and customers to ensure appropriate knowledge transfer.
- Develops and manages services and approaches to ensure appropriate, consistent, and quality customer service, energy analysis, documentation, communication, and achievement of established performance and/or contractual expectations.
- Develops guidance on incentive levels, establishing timelines and staffing needs for Efficiency Vermont services and initiatives.
- Supports the coordination of activities with other staff, groups, and divisions within VEIC as is necessary to accomplish organizational goals and objectives.
