Position Overview:

As the Director of Graphic Design & Social Media, you will play a critical role in amplifying Sterling’s mission of ecological thinking and action. Reporting directly to the Dean of Admission and Financial Aid, the ideal candidate will be our institution’s “storyteller” in congruence with the College’s institutional brand, marketing and admissions strategy, and the 2019 strategic plan. The Director will demonstrate knowledge of principles, practices, and ethics of storytelling, and technical skills in graphic design and publication layout. This is a full-time, on-site position with the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement for the right candidate.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Shoots digital photos and videos at college-wide activities for use on social media platforms and in collateral materials for marketing and advertising purposes.  
  • Assists in the development and implementation of a comprehensive social media strategy on channels including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Twitter.
  • Generates relevant and engaging content, manages, and regularly updates and monitors the College’s social media channels. 
  • Designs digital and print graphics for social media, eNewsletters, and communication plans.  
  • Provides maintenance and functionality of web-based platforms, including search engine optimization, web edits, social media strategy and implementation, and HubSpot.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in progressively responsible roles.
  • Familiarity with subject areas such as agriculture, ecology, and education.
  • Experience working in digital communications and design.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
