About the Job

Vermont Public is seeking a journalist to join our award-winning digital news team as a digital producer. This highly collaborative role requires strong news judgment and keen attention to detail. This role will work to repackage broadcast segments into an explainer web post or TikTok (or both); make photographs, infographics, collages, and other visuals; write and edit web, social media, and newsletter copy using AP style (plus come up with killer headlines); and teach colleagues how they, too, might incorporate these tools into their reporting. We’re looking for someone who loves working on digital platforms and feels at home in a daily news environment. Creativity, great communication, and love of deadlines are musts.

No degree requirement; two years or more of journalism experience desired and a demonstrated interest in digital media and covering issues facing Vermont. Strong organizational, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills are required. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively. Ability to work under strict deadlines and pressure, ability to break news as it emerges. Candidates will be expected to have a high level of commitment and dedication to the mission of the organization and public media. Must be able to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with co-workers and audience, supporting and enhancing a culture of belonging as well as preserving confidentiality appropriately.

Details:
This is a full-time salary-exempt non-union position; the compensation range starts at $57,000 yearly average of 40 hours per week, commensurate with experience.
