The Conflict Assistance Program (CAP) seeks a new coordinator. This grant-funded part-time position was established one year ago to create a brand new program. CAP supports people who are not involved with the criminal legal system to work through conflict and harm through direct services and community workshops. The program is funded for the next three years, and the new coordinator would work with their supervisor and the CJC director to secure long-term funding.

Essential Job Functions:
- Continue to run a sustainable program and strategic, operational, three-year plan, for offering conflict assistance to residents of Burlington who request services from the BCJC as well as a workshop curricula and outreach strategy.
- Track and evaluate all required and desired data for the funder and constituents to not only measure activities and outcomes of the program, but to look for opportunities for improvement regarding access and efficacy.
- Conduct conflict skills workshops for Burlington-area residents on applied conflict styles, active listening, non-violent communication, conflict mediation, and other skills to help others work through conflict.
- Serve as primary ambassador of the program in the community and seek out opportunities to present on the program to new communities and increase awareness of program more broadly.
- Identify local mediators in the area with relevant skills, credentials, and resources with whom we could contract or establish in-kind donor relationships.
- Work with the Victim Services Manager and CJC Director to apply for future funding to make the program financially sustainable over multiple years.
- Report on program outcomes to primary funder and for department-related needs with timeliness and accuracy.
Non-Essential Job Functions:
- Attends monthly CEDO and CJC staff meetings and trainings when appropriate.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:
- Ability to actively support City diversity, equity, and cultural competency efforts within stated job responsibilities and work effectively across diverse cultures and constituencies.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion as evidenced by ongoing trainings and professional development.
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required, reasonable accommodations will be considered.
- Bachelor’s Degree with three years of experience in mediation, restorative justice, conflict resolution, or related field. Additional experience may be substituted for a degree requirement on a two-for-one year basis.
- Experience with program development and working with marginalized populations.
- Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity of restorative practices, with an ability to understand and demonstrate knowledge of victim and community impact around harm.
- Demonstrated strong organizational, coordination and group leadership skills.
- Ability to develop strong relationships with a wide range of individuals and groups, who may have conflicting interests and opinions.
- Strong communication skills, including written, phone, public speaking, meeting and training facilitation.
- High standards of confidentiality, attention to detail, record keeping and follow through required.
- Ability to work in a team environment, while also working independently as necessary.
- Able to manage and grow programs and meet program requirements, reports and deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with people who have experienced trauma, and come from diverse racial, economic, and other backgrounds.
- Ability to serve as an “Ambassador” for the City, carrying out work and interacting with co-workers and the public in respectful professional manner.
- Computer literacy necessary. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, and Excel preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of systems of power such as White supremacy, capitalism, etc.
- Regular attendance and availability to respond to emergent and time-sensitive situations are essential to meeting expectations of the job functions.
- Ability to understand and comply with City standards, safety rules and personnel policies.
