Responsible for oversight and leadership in facilitating complex administrative and business operations. Uses judgement to facilitate and prioritize work across several cross-functional teams, resolves problems, designs short-, mid- and long-range plans for organizational processes, appropriate staffing, and complex financial systems. Coordinate administrative functions related to fiscal management, operational systems, research administration and human resources for staff across both UVM and UVMMC HR platforms. Oversee collection of all NCI required data, analyzes and interprets financial and administrative data that may be both sensitive and confidential and creates reports for a variety of audiences. Serve also as liaison between multiple functional areas of activity at the UVMCC, including but not limited to leadership, research programs, communications and outreach, education and shared resources to develop strategies and recommendations and to provide assistance with current initiatives – also service as liasion with other internal cancer center administrators to maintain appropriate professional knowledge of best practices nationally. In addition, collaborate with the Cancer Center Director and Executive Director of Administration to guide implementation and ongoing reorganization to optimize infrastructure in alignment with NCI expectations for a designated Cancer Center. Oversee staff support for external advisory, philanthropic and other boards, such as the Juckett Foundation, External Advisory Board, Executive Committee and Community Advisory Board.
Current activities include health screenings, community outreach and educational offerings for underserved populations specific to cancer prevention and control. Efforts are underway to address population-specific cancer concerns for Vermont's indigenous people, BIPOC, and persons identifying as LGBTQA+. The UVMCC developed and will implement in 2023 a leadership pipeline opportunity specific to future leaders who represent groups underrepresented in biomedical sciences. This program will provide emerging leaders at Cancer Centers nationally with access to leadership-related training within Cancer Centers.
