About the Job

The Office of Institutional Advancement at Saint Michael’s College invites applications for the Assistant Director for Alumni and Family Engagement position. This position works collaboratively with Institutional Advancement colleagues and campus partners to create strategic engagement and fundraising opportunities for Saint Michael’s College alumni, families, and students. The Assistant Director supports the institution’s volunteer and philanthropic goals while adhering to its mission and vision.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Creates, plans, and executes a robust program and events (on and off campus) calendar annually, designed to engage alumni, families, and students in the life of the College
  • Takes an active lead in the creation and execution of both small and large-scale events, including Reunion Weekend
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for external constituents
  • Plans and executes a social media strategy for Alumni Office accounts
  • Recruits, manages, and stewards alumni and parents to become volunteers and ambassadors that help the College achieve engagement metrics
  • Travels frequently for one-on-one visits with alumni, donors, and parents to promote volunteerism and charitable giving and to staff events
  • Creates and sends a wide range of electronic communications to external audiences
  • Educates constituents on the importance of financial participation in the College’s Annual Fund, which supports the student experience and SMC’s priorities
  • Collaborates with IA colleagues to meet the College’s fundraising goals through a multichannel approach to soliciting constituents

Requirements:

Applicants must have the following

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Products
  • Previous work experience with volunteers and event planning preferred
  • Marketing experience, particularly as it relates to social media, is preferred
  • Strong writing skills preferred
