Our organization works in substance misuse prevention in Burlington, Vermont. There are many places where systematic racism and cultural oppression have impacted the health of the community and contribute to disparities in rates of substance use and the development of substance use disorder for specific populations. Our coalition works to bring attention to these issues and support improvements to policy, practice, and public awareness in a people-centered way. We bring together the people who live, work, and play in the community to be engaged in and reflected in all aspects of the process. That includes working to ensure our small staff and board is a reflection of the diversity in our community as well as working with partners who help us to include a wide variety of experiences and perspectives to inform the work.
