The Adult Shelters Coordinator is a critical role in our organization, managing both our overnight shelter, The Waystation, and our daytime drop-in center, The Daystation. We are looking for a creative, organized, hard-working problem solver who can oversee shelter programs while also keeping a pulse on the needs of the community and identifying opportunities for desired programming/services within our shelters. The Coordinator directly supervises the Daystation team members as well as the Assistant Coordinator at the Waystation. This is a working manager role, meaning you will be responsible for providing hands on support with daily tasks and coverage as needed.

The Waystation operates from 6:00pm to 8:00am each night of the year, and the Coordinator must be able to flex hours to support Waystation needs as they arise. The Daystation serves lunch 365 days a year for those in need, community partners and volunteers come onsite to meet with guests, offer haircuts, facilitate job readiness workshops and more.

The Coordinator is part of the COTS management team and works closely with the many community partners COTS relies on to meet the needs of our guests. A critical function of this role is building and/or maintaining positive, collaborative relationships with these community partners.
The Coordinator is also responsible for data oversight and reporting, budget management, weekly meeting facilitation and other administrative related functions. This position attends critical community meetings to ensure we are maintaining important partnerships and is responsible for relaying pertinent information from these meetings to COTS staff and leadership as appropriate.

Requirements: A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field plus a minimum of 3 years of experience working in social services and at least 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience required; A combination of experience and coursework will be considered in lieu of degree. Prior experience working with substance abuse, mental illness and individuals with trauma histories required. Strong candidates will have experience with individuals experiencing homelessness and crisis intervention, as well as knowledge of resources and services for individuals and families. This includes federal and state housing subsidy programs and affordable housing systems. Reliability, independent decision making, computer skills (Excel & HMIS databases), and strong communication skills are required; comfort with public speaking desired.
