Airport
Location: BTV - 1200 Airport Drive, South Burlington
Internship
The purpose of this internship is to gain a first-hand knowledge of airport social media efforts, policies, and how to communicate to the broader community about airport related items including but not limited to flight information, legislative efforts, and marketing planning. This internship will help maintain an email marketing campaign and assist in executing community-based events.

The internship starts: 9/21/2026 and can extend through the end of the academic semester.
 
 Learning Outcomes:
  • Gain experience collaborating with airport staff and media buyers throughout the communications and marketing planning process
  • Develop skills in maintaining a social media content calendar within a complex, fast-moving operational environment

Burlington City Arts (BCA)

BCA maintains a list of active, qualified event staff. In this position, you will help with the set up and on-site execution of indoor and outdoor events in the BCA Center, BCA Studios, Contois Auditorium, City Hall Park and other indoor and outdoor spaces as needed.

Event work is posted to an email list and any staffer can opt to take the work as desired and available. A minimum amount of work must be accepted to maintain the position.

An Event Staffer will at times work independently and other times on a larger team. The Community Support Liaison (CSL) will be a trained professional focusing on services associated with homelessness, substance-use disorder, mental health, and persons with chronic service needs. The CLS will be an integral part of a team that uses timely and accurate information to implement effective tactics and strategies to reduce the need for a police officer’s response to calls for service without immediate public safety or criminal component. The person hired will be responsible for the coordination of all aspects of social work, to include intensive coordination across agencies, stakeholders, and platforms. At times, CSLs will be paired with Police Officers to respond to calls for service. 

The CSL’s insights and strategies, informed by trauma-centered, person-centered practices, will guide a fast-paced work environment with a single-minded focus on addressing gaps in Burlington’s various social-service systems. The CSL will help individuals and families in Burlington live healthier lives by working with those who seek service through the Police Department, moderating disputes that result from quality-of-life issues, and acting as an advocate for those in need. The CSL will be directed and supervised by the Community Support Supervisor, in close collaboration with the Deputy Chief of Operations, and will work closely with all of the services that are embedded within the Police Department. 

This position will be expected to work a flexible 2nd shift schedule. The schedule is a monthly rotating four days on, three days off, working 10 hours each shift. Start and end of shift are flexible (i.e., shift can start as early as 10 am or as late as 12 pm, at staff discretion).

The Burlington Mayor’s Office is offering an internship opportunity for students interested in social media, strategic communications, and municipal government. Interns will get hands-on experience with City Government, allowing them to learn about and interact with Departments across the city as they work to support the communications operation in the Mayor’s office. This position will work closely with the Mayor’s office staff to determine strategic communications opportunities, create a social media strategy, and draft external communications for the office.


By the end of the internship, students will:
