Radical Empathy: Taking Action/Bridging Divides – Annual Sutherland Lecture Series

Terri Givens is a Political Science Professor at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. She is the author of the book “Radical Empathy: Finding a Path to Bridging Racial Divides,” and is a sought-after consultant and speaker on issues related to leadership and inclusion. She has more than 30 years of experience in higher education, politics, international affairs, and nonprofits.
Givens will speak at Saint Michael’s as part of its annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Convocation celebration and the College’s Donald J. Sutherland Lecture Series, which brings leading thinkers and scholars to campus. Her talk will explain the role of radical empathy in bridging divides, based on her recent book, using her research and life experiences as a guide. Her talk will also include her recent work on the intersections of immigration and race in politics.
