Organization Description
The Cancer Patient Support Foundation (CPSF) mission is to serve Vermont cancer patients and their families during a time of extraordinary need by providing financial assistance and support during diagnosis, treatment and recovery. Founded in 2001, CPSF has awarded more than $3.3 million to local cancer patients. Each year on average we support 500 patients and their families. The Emergency Fund program provides financial support to patients to help pay for their basic needs such as housing, home heating, utilities, transportation to treatment, food, prescriptions and out of pocket medical expenses. Our Maggie Card program provides discounts on good and services to cancer patients from participating businesses.
Organization's Approach to Diversity, Equity, Belonging, & Inclusion

CPSF goal is to support all cancer patients when they need us the most. Medical social workers and providers refer patients to our Emergency Fund program through a portal on our website. Because we do not interact directly with the patients we support, in 2024 we added more demographic questions on our referral form and on our patient survey that we send out yearly. We now collect household income, race/ethnicity, gender identity and age. This data helps us better understand the populations who are being referred to us and it will highlight communities who are being underserved.
