Organization Description
Founded in Burlington in 1977, Cathedral Square is a nonprofit national leader in the creation of high quality, affordable, service-enriched housing communities for older adults and those with special needs. We operate 24 independent-living communities, two assisted living residences (one devoted to memory care), and four communities for specific populations in collaboration with valued nonprofit partners. We pioneered the nationally-recognized SASH (Support and Services at Home) model and administer it with housing partners across the state and replicate it in other states.
Organization's Approach to Diversity, Equity, Belonging, & Inclusion

Cathedral Square improves the lives of older adults and people with diverse needs by creating and maintaining quality, affordable housing with services tailored to their unique circumstances, recognizing that safe, affordable housing is the foundation of health, individual and community well-being and economic, racial and social justice.
Cathedral Square is a participating organization to the City of Burlington's Community Declaration of Racism as a Public Health Emergency (2020). As a participating organization we committed to immediate and specific actions to address systemic racial discrimination and promote racial justice. These actions include but are not limited to setting specific goals in our strategic plan to increase the number of BIPOC individuals in position of leadership, creation of an anti-racism committee made up of staff and residents to oversee our anti-racism efforts and activities, adding mandatory anti-racism training for all employees, creation of a regular staff newsletter on issues of justice, equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging- see all past editions here as well as other activities we are pursuing: https://cathedralsquare.org/social-and-racial-justice/
