Organization Description
For 40 years, HomeShare Vermont has matched elders, persons with disabilities, and others with a housemate who can share household chores, companionship, and/or household expenses. Homesharing is a program that not only helps people age in place and promotes independence for persons with disabilities but also one that is an important affordable housing resource. It is about people helping each other. HomeShare Vermont is a leader in the growing national homesharing movement.
We currently serve Addison, Chittenden, Franklin, Grand Isle, Lamoille, Washington, Orange and parts of Windsor, Orleans and Caledonia counties. Our long-term goal is to provide statewide coverage and we're looking for leaders from across the state to help us as we grow.
Board members play a pivotal role in our organization. We have a long history of active volunteer involvement in everything from strategic planning, outreach and fundraising to actual service delivery with our amazing Staff Volunteers who help make matches.Organization's Approach to Diversity, Equity, Belonging, & Inclusion
HomeShare Vermont has always been an equal housing organization and provides supportive and affordable housing to Vermonters from all cultural backgrounds. We are currently in the second year of an internal review how we market, process and make decisions as an organization. This process is led by CQ strategies with the goal with this review is to ensure we are doing all we can to welcome and center the experiences of historically marginalized Vermonters.
