Organization Description
We are housing developers, caregivers, maintenance specialists, health care professionals, social workers and public-policy advocates dedicated to promoting healthy homes, caring communities and positive aging. At Cathedral Square, older adults and people with disabilities and other challenges can live their lives to the fullest -- in communities where age and wisdom are valued and respected, where diversity in all its forms is welcome and celebrated. We have a 13-member board that helps guide and support us!
Organization's Approach to Diversity, Equity, Belonging, & Inclusion

o June- CS signs on to Burlington’s Community Declaration of Racism as a Public Health Emergency and develops Anti-Racism Action Plan
o July- Anti-Racism Committee (ARC) formed and first meeting held in August
o Work of ARC focuses on updates to CS Strategic Plan to incorporate anti-racism commitment, plan and coordinate anti-racism training for all staff and begin reviewing CS policies and procedures to meet promises of Action Plan.
o 5-week Racial Justice Training series available to all staff
o Monthly ARC Lunch and Learn events
o Monthly ARC staff newsletter
o Planning for continued engagement and education for all staff
o Developed CS statement of welcoming and belonging.
o CS Strategic Plan includes goals for BIPOC recruitment.

o Review and revise Employee Handbook with focus on inclusivity and equity for all staff- inclusion code of conduct included.
o Review job descriptions to ensure unnecessary minimum qualifications are removed and encourage candidates with diverse backgrounds.
o Expand recruitment efforts to organizations focused on and supporting BIPOC.
o Contract with Peace and Justice Center to train staff on Seeing and Disrupting Racism

o Changed name of ARC to JEDI Committee
o Revised and finalized JEDI Action Plan with Board approval
o New strategic plan has JEDI focus
Started Coffee and Conversation events
o Participated in Burlington’s PRIDE Parade on September 10th
Increased diversity among staff and board members.
