Organization Description
As the City of Burlington's municipal electric provider, BED is responsible for service to our customers, including approximately 6,000 commercial accounts and 16,000 residential accounts. BED is proud to source 100% of our electricity from renewables and is on a path to transition away from fossil fuels in ground transportation and built environment. The Commission is comprised of 5 members appointed by the City Council with Mayor presiding for three-year terms. The City of Burlington's REIB team orchestrated training for all City staff (including BED). BED leadership was engaged in further training through the Urban Sustainability Directors Network, and BED's strategic vision includes the following objective: to "ensure all programs are equitable and accessible, with a priority given to low-to-moderate income, rental, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), immigrant, and refugee populations ."

Commission meets one Wednesday per month, starting at 5:30 pm and run approximately 2 hoursStipends for Board Membership
