Organization Description
GOTRVT is a statewide non-profit, after-school program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. Our 10-week season is facilitated by trained, volunteer coaches who use a curriculum that delivers lessons to nurture the social, emotional and physical wellbeing of our participants. Our lessons are designed to build self-esteem for all girls who participate so that they have the tools to unleash their unlimited potential! The season culminates with a celebratory, noncompetitive 5k event in two locations in Vermont (Essex and Manchester). We serve approximately 2,000 girls each spring across the state. Our statewide board of directors is the governing body of our organization. We are seeking additional individuals to join our board to add perspective and context through their lived experience.
Organization's Approach to Diversity, Equity, Belonging, & Inclusion

GOTRVT strives to strengthen the diversity of our Board, staff, coaches and participants. We have embedded IDEA work (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access) into our strategic plan in an effort to ensure that our organization is representing all viewpoints, people, and perspectives. Our goal in 2023 is to increase the number of girls and coaches who identify as Black, Indigenous, and Persons of Color.

Additionally, we do not turn any girl away for a lack of financial resources to join GOTRVT. We provide subsidies to all girls and additional financial support to those that need it.

We welcome nonbinary and gender-fluid participants in our program so that all participants feel a sense of belonging and can benefit from the positive messaging of our program.
