Organization's Approach to Diversity, Equity, Belonging, & Inclusion

Housing Trust of Rutland County (HTRC) has a core mission to provide safe, secure, affordable housing for eligible individuals and families throughout Rutland County regardless of age, race, ethnicity, mental health, physical capabilities, gender identification or sexual orientation.

We acknowledge that inequities exist in our community, we believe we have a responsibility as a non-profit organization to create and contribute to positive systemic change. As such the HTRC staff and Board of Directors have participated in a series of brainstorming sessions answering specific questions around diversity, equity, and inclusion. The purpose of this exercise was to uncover some tangible blind spots around ways we can work on increasing our diversity, improving our equity outcomes and ensuring inclusion in all that we do. As a result of these sessions and consultations with outside experts, HTRC has developed a Diversity Equity and Inclusion Plan (DEI). This plan addresses ways we can be aware of implicit biases and recognize inequities and disparities in our work and our community. HTRC recognizes our DEI work needs to be ongoing. Our Board and Staff are committed to continuing this work and being models through our actions and behaviors in the community.

HTRC is committed to modeling diversity, equity, and inclusion and to maintain an environment with equitable treatment for all. HTRC has set a goal of embedding these values into all that we do. We will demonstrate this commitment in our interactions with residents, applicants and community partners alike.
