Organization Description
The Affordable Housing Committee’s mission is to increase the availability of safe and affordable housing in the city, particularly for households with incomes no greater than 80% of the median for the region. To this end, it provides guidance and policy recommendations to the Planning Commission and City Council, educates the community about housing needs, and collaborates with regional municipalities and housing partners. We are accepting applications through August 12th.
Organization's Approach to Diversity, Equity, Belonging, & Inclusion

"Diversity, inclusion, and belonging are core values of the City of South Burlington. Our community will be stronger as our employees reflect our demographics and our neighbors see themselves in our Team. Some of the DEIB initiatives and programs we have implemented include:
• Being a member of the State of Vermont Office of Racial Equity's IDEAL coalition. (IDEAL stands for Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Action, Leadership). IDEAL is a coalition of Vermont municipalities dedicated to advancing racial and other forms of equity across the state through shared learning and tangible action.
• Original community to sign the Vermont Declaration of Inclusion - supporting the enactment and furtherance of plans, policies, programs, procedures, and relevant training that support and advance the intent and spirit of the Declaration.
